Drive-in and take a dip in our carefully sculpted lake, we offer the best facilities within the Midlands. With changing rooms, eco-friendly showers and free swimmers tea and coffee after your swim!

Here at Cliff Lakes, our guests safety is our main priority as well as ensuring that all participants have a great time. Our swim courses are accompanied by a team of lifeguards who will watch everyone during their session.

Open Water Swimming (April – September)

We operate 2 different courses (250m & 500m) during the summer, which are fully lifeguarded with a rescue boat that can respond to any incidents. Cliff Lakes is the perfect venue for any swimmer. From beginners to experienced triathletes, everyone is welcomed.

1 to 1 Training Session & Group Classes

Throughout the summer season, we offer a range of different swimming classes where we can teach you the basics of swimming in open water or even specialise in 1 to 1 training sessions where we can develop your technique.

Swimming Events

  • Go Tri – These events give an insight into triathlons, and you can gain friendly tips from our Go Tri team, who specialise in the sport.
  • Ladies Only Swim – This is for any lady from the absolute beginner to our regular swimmers. These women-only swim sessions are designed to make you feel more comfortable and confident in the water. Of course, if you want to wear a t-shirt over your swimming costume or a wetsuit, you can!
  • Triathlon Transition Coaching – The course is targeted at beginners and intermediate level triathletes. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to improve and critique their technique to get the best result during races.

Cold Water Swimming (November – March)

We operate a small swim course and our swim lanes during the winter. Temperatures can reach as low as 0 degrees in the water. Cold water swimming is perfect for anyone wanting to take a dip into a new hobby.

Why swim outdoors through the winter? Did you know cold water does a lot of good for improving circulation? It burns a lot of calories & is very good for injuries, new or old.

Introduction Courses

We welcome swimmers of all abilities and ages to our swimming sessions, and many people would like to come along and give it a go. At Cliff Lakes, we work alongside The Outdoor Swimming Company to promote and teach the “how to’s” of outdoor swimming. The beginner course will teach you about cold water awareness, react to cold water and what to look out for. The course is a requirement for all beginners.​

Swim Lanes

The lanes run between May – September and are 50 meters long and can cater for a maximum of 5 swimmers at one time. Each swimmer will be designated their own lane to use for their booked session which will last for an hour.

The swim lanes are for expereinced swimmers only, beginners aren’t allowed into the lanes. Although there won’t be a designated lifeguard to watch the lanes, there is a safety team around to assist where is needed.

Swimmers must wear a brightly coloured hat and a tow float. Wetsuits aren’t comp

The swim lanes cost £7 per session.

We have been busy redeveloping parts of our site. Unfortunately, the Swim Lanes aren’t ready to be opened but we hope to have them open in the next few weeks!

The Outdoor Swimming Company is your prefect step into open water swimming. With a range of introduction and progression courses, you can’t go wrong. They believe that “There is a place in the outdoors for everyone to swim”

From race craft and technique to effiecency, Body Performance Method is a speialised company who can help enhance your swimming skills. Thier coaches can enhance you skills and help you to reach your targets.

Essential Information

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your session to check in.
  • All participants must be 10 years and above.
    • Open Water Swimming – Participants aged 15 years or under must swim with an adult over the age of 18.
    • Swim Lanes – Participants aged 15 years or under must have an adult over the age of 18 supervising them (not required to get into the water)
  • Participants must wear a tow float if they choose not to wear a wetsuit or if they are swimming in the lanes.
  • The last entry into the water is 30 minutes before the end of the session.
  • A bright coloured hat must be worn at all times.
  • We encourage first-time beginners to take part in an introduction course before swimming in our Open Water Swimming sessions.
  • No beginners can swim in the lanes. These are only for experienced swimmers.
